There are six mesh pockets, three elastic cable holders, two pen holders, and a fleece-lined glasses pocket. The third layer zips back into your lap, and is specifically designed for small-item organization: things like charging cables, pens, change, batteries, earplugs, chapstick, passport, and bike documents. Inside the beavertail, we added a pocket for an InReach or SPOT, and there's a gated clip to hold your GPS/camera/beacon lanyards so nothing tumbles out if your bike goes down. ![]() If you use it for your DSLR, we provided webbing loops on the beavertail side bellows, so you can clip the D-rings on your camera case directly to the bag. On the Nomax, the beavertail serves as a quick-stash spot for things like sunglasses, gloves, snacks, or even a small DSLR camera. If you already have some of our other bags, you know how handy a beavertail can be. Some riders like a map pocket, some don’t.īelow the MOLLE webbing, the next layer is an expandable beavertail. MOLLE webbing enables you to customize the rider-facing top layer of the Nomax to suit your individual travel style. It's also a great place to store a MOLLE-compatible multi-tool, fixed-blade knife, or protective cell phone holder. The top layer of the Nomax features three columns of MOLLE webbing (made from die cut Hypalon), which can be used to mount our rain-proof MOLLE Map Pocket, or other MOLLE-compatible items like our Navigator Cell Phone Pocket. A vertical layout maximizes the utilization of space without making the bag too tall. We compiled a massive list of the things people store in their tank bags and found the majority of the items on the list were very small. The moral in this story is: i vouch for this bag!Īfter talking to hundreds of riders around the world, and combining that input with our own personal wants and needs, we decided that, rather than start with a traditional 'toaster' shape, we would divide the Nomax's space into six vertical layers, each with its own specific mission. In the end i finished 7th place (of 18 players in my category) and unharmed. A 5kg bag, bouncing and pounding through 1000+ miles of high speed offroad racing, and held only by 4 zip ties, 2 straps and 5 plastic clips… But i was wrong! It held! Even more: she stood there after 8 hard falls and the whole race, releasing me of the hydration bag, and allowing me easy Access to all the goodies you can carry. When i got it, i was skeptical about the strenght of the clips to hold it in place. And considering the 300 pounds i would have to lift everytime i loose my footing, having a hydration/toolkit/documents/medikit backpack on would be my absolute doom. Now, if this wasn´t enough of a challenge, i decided to ride it with my reliable 2018 KTM 690 Enduro bike, instead of a rented 450 or 500 rally motorcycle, the natural standard for a race of this kind. ![]() So, i heard of this 5 days cross country international rally, all FIMM rules and Dakar style and i couldn´t say no. Just an average Joe doing what he loves… once said, i will also admit that sometimes i go crazy… this story is one of those. As you can imagine, i do overland trips and practice hard enduro during weekends and holidays. ![]()
